ONCE-A-WEEK- SCHEDULE
Very few students qualify to work independently and meet with the teacher once a week for an hour, either after school or in the evening. Ordinarily those students are very independent workers, or have special circumstances.
DAILY SCHEDULE
Our regular program meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a full day of school, generally following a similar schedule as Quilcene High School. Students are expected to attend full time those two days unless excused.
In the meantime, all daily students are encouraged to find a volunteer position, a job shadow, an internship, a part-time and meaningful job, or some other experiential learning experience for at least one day a week. This will help everyone earn community service hours/elective credit and have new life experiences.

The Crossroads Creed -- What we believe! Do you want to join us? Can you try to follow our beliefs and ideals, even knowing we ourselves do not always reach them? Every day we make an honest effort. In their own words, Crossroads students wrote what we stand for: |
Home Sweet Home
We own our own classroom.
Our classroom is more like our home. It may only be two days out of the week but we do live here. When we are here we all do our part to clean up and keep things looking nice. We also relieve Phil from what he has to do after school. In order for us to have certain privileges in our classroom, we must take care of it. We take care of what we have because it is ours. We respect each other. This class has its crazy days. We all know that everyone is susceptible to a bad day. Just because someone is angry today does not mean they will be tomorrow or even that whole day. In other words, we all try to accept each others’ behavior. It’s not like we all get on each others’ nerves all the time. We have more good than bad here. It’s just that when we do have those crazy days, you need to have the right stuff to make it through. Have the respect not to make someone feel worse for having a bad day and disrupting things because life threw them a curve ball. We respect those who respect us.

We try to self regulate. Don’t get the idea that you can act how you please and shift the blame elsewhere. We self regulate. We all try to take responsibility for our actions so there is much less official punishment. Our class has been up and running for about a month and no one has been sent to the office. When we know we did something wrong we take it upon ourselves to fix it. We have got a few ways of doing that. The most common offense is improper language, so I’ll use that as an example. If you miss-speak you can write lines, pay a fine of one dollar into the class treasury, do push-ups or jumping jacks. This all may have come off as a bit mean or aggressive, but that is only because we have a good thing going and we want to keep it that way. If you’re a good addition to the “family,” we’re all happy to have you. |

We take responsibility for a full work shift. Crossroads takes responsibility for a full work shift the three days a week we are here. If you have unexcused time you are expected to make it up. Students have the choice of which text books they work out of, but are expected to work when we are here. Every minute counts in Crossroads and it should. Students do like to chat but respect Phil when he asks to do work. We are old enough and mature enough to know what needs to be done. Crossroads can be a calm place to study. It is not a mandatory place where you have to do this, this and this in a certain amount of time. We have the time to actually study the work and not have to cheat off of somebody just to keep up with the rest of the class. Crossroads is what you make of it. Most of us will definitely learn more in and from Crossroads than we would in the regular school. Phil 95% of the time has enough time to sit down with you and help you understand your work. So be mature and get to work.

We are champions! The respectable citizens of the Crossroads community take pride in what they have. We don’t mess around. Any new initiated Crossroads inductee will become more accustomed to the idea of self-pride and diversity. In Crossroads, you will have more time to focus on your strong points, and we will encourage you to hone those skills; hence the name, champion. |
